400 Palestinian minors held in Israeli jails: NGO
Ten females are among jailed Palestinian minors in Israel
At least 400 Palestinian children are currently languishing in Israeli prisons, according to a local Palestinian NGO.
"Israeli authorities are holding 400 Palestinian minors aged between 13 and 18,” Qadora Faris, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society, told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday during a visit to Ankara.
He said 10 females were among the jailed Palestinian minors in Israel.
"Those detained minors are suffering bad living conditions in violation of international law," Faris said.
Last month, Israeli forces detained 483 Palestinians, including 125 minors, according to figures by Palestinian NGOs.
Faris described the detainees in Israeli jails as "a bleeding wound of the Palestinian people”, going on to accuse the Israeli government of “repressing” Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
According to Palestinian official figures, more than 6,300 Palestinians are currently held in detention facilities throughout Israel.
